As you prepare for your upcoming labiaplasty with Dr. Power, we want to provide you with detailed guidance to ensure a smooth and successful experience. Below are essential steps and recommendations to help you prepare and recover effectively.

Before your labiaplasty, Dr. Power will discuss the details of your surgery, including expected outcomes, and potential risks or complications. It is essential to address any questions or concerns you may have during this consultation to ensure you are well-informed and prepared.

By following these guidelines and recommendations, you can optimize your surgical experience and facilitate a smooth recovery process after labiaplasty. Our office will provide you with written post-op instructions and Dr. Power’s personal extension for any after-hour concerns.

Preparation Tips:

Post-Operative Supplies:

Prepare at least four frozen water bottles ahead of time. These will remain frozen for an extended period and can be used for applying cold therapy to reduce swelling and discomfort after your surgery. We also recommend having pads, Tylenol extra-strength, and vaseline for your recovery.

Prescription Medication: Ensure you have obtained your prescribed medications from the pharmacy indicated during your booking process. It’s important to bring these medications with you to our office on the day of your surgery.

Transportation Arrangements:

Arrange for someone to drive you home after your labiaplasty. Due to potential discomfort from walking and the effects of pain medication, driving yourself is not advised. It is crucial to start resting and applying the cold compresses as soon as possible after leaving our facility. Remember, refrain from taking Tylenol #3 if you plan to drive.

Emla Cream Application:

One hour before your surgery, generously apply Emla cream to your surgical site. Using plastic wrap over the cream helps with absorption and keeps it in place, optimizing its effectiveness in numbing the area.

Block Off Recovery Time:

Plan to rest at home for a minimum of three days after labiaplasty. During this time, it is recommended to walk short distances within your home every hour. Avoid leaving your home during this initial recovery period and prioritize applying cold compresses while awake. Minimize prolonged standing to enhance comfort and healing.

Plan for your Follow-Up Appointment:

Our office will provide you with important dates including your first follow up at roughly 10 days post-procedure. For patients traveling from a distance, virtual appointments can be arranged if necessary. This follow-up is essential for monitoring your recovery progress and addressing any concerns you may have as you continue to heal.

We hope this helps as you prepare for your upcoming procedure.  Please contact our office at any time leading up to your procedure or during your recovery if you have any questions.  We look forward to seeing you soon!
