If you are considering a plastic surgery procedure and have done your research, you may be ready for the next step: consultation with a plastic surgeon. This initial meeting is a time to speak with your surgeon, discuss your unique aesthetic goals, learn about the surgical options available, and more. Read on to learn more about what to expect from your consultation at Power Plastic Surgery.
Prepping for your consultation appointment is a great way to ensure that you clearly communicate your aesthetic needs and concerns. Before your consultation, doing some initial research on the procedure you are interested in is beneficial, as this will allow for a more productive conversation with your surgeon.
We recommend that you bring a list of current medications, summary of your medical history and any relevant medical records, and questions to ask your plastic surgeon. It may also be helpful to bring photo examples of results you admire. This information will ensure that all important topics are covered during your consultation and that you have a full understanding of the procedure, our surgical process, and what to expect regarding results.
To begin your consultation, you will meet with your plastic surgeon and share which procedure you are interested in discussing. Your surgeon will also ask questions regarding your medical history, previous surgeries or treatments (including aesthetic ones), past and present medications and medical conditions, allergies, and your smoking status. You will also be able to discuss your desired results, which is why bringing in photo examples may be helpful. Your surgeon will discuss in depth your desired goals and what you can expect from the procedure of interest.
During your consultation, Dr. Power will perform a physical exam depending on the type of surgery being considered. This will help her to better understand your individual anatomy and areas of concern. Furthermore, it allows for the creation of a personalized treatment plan so you can achieve the results you desire.
Once you have discussed your medical history and desired results, you and the surgeon can discuss the available treatment and surgical options. She will explain the surgical technique, risks, aftercare, and post-op recovery. Following your consultation with Dr. Power, you will then meet with Madison, our patient concierge, to discuss available dates, review your surgical quote, and answer any remaining questions. At Power Plastic Surgery, we believe patient education is key to optimal results, so we encourage you to ask as many questions as you need.
