Meet Dr. Stephanie Power, a board-certified female plastic surgeon performing mommy makeover surgery for patients throughout the Etobicoke area. A mommy makeover combines plastic surgery procedures, customized to your goals, to address the changes pregnancy and breastfeeding bring to the breasts and abdomen.

As a female plastic surgeon and mother herself, Dr. Power understands the physical changes that come with pregnancy and childbirth, and approaches every consultation with empathy and attention to detail. Our Etobicoke patients appreciate the personalized, unhurried care she provides from consultation through recovery.

Because every pregnancy is different, a mommy makeover is fully customized rather than a fixed set of procedures. Dr. Power will work with you to design a plan that addresses the areas that concern you most.

What is a Mommy Makeover?

A mommy makeover is a combination of plastic surgery procedures customized to your unique needs, most commonly addressing the two areas most affected by pregnancy and childbearing: the breasts and stomach. The most common combination includes breast augmentation and breast lift along with a tummy tuck, though procedures like liposuction or labiaplasty are common additions as well.

Who is a Candidate for a Mommy Makeover?

Good candidates for a mommy makeover are people who are unsatisfied with their appearance after pregnancy and childbirth, including skin laxity of the stomach and breasts, and are in good general health with a stable weight. In many cases, combining procedures is the most effective way to address multiple areas of concern in a single recovery period.

Ideal Candidates for a Mommy Makeover in Etobicoke are:

  • In good overall health, with a stable weight for at least 6 months
  • Have completed childbearing and are finished breastfeeding
  • Bothered by changes to the breasts and/or abdomen following pregnancy
  • A non-smoker, or willing to quit at least 4 weeks before and after surgery
  • Able to arrange help at home during the initial recovery period
  • Have reasonable expectations about results

Procedures Included in a Mommy Makeover

Breast Augmentation with Lift

A combined breast augmentation and lift restores volume lost after breastfeeding while lifting sagging breast tissue to a more youthful position.

Tummy Tuck

A tummy tuck removes loose skin and stubborn fat from the abdomen while tightening abdominal muscles that commonly separate during pregnancy (rectus diastasis).

Liposuction

Liposuction can remove stubborn fat pockets on the hips, thighs, or flanks that don't respond to diet and exercise.

Mommy Makeover Recovery

Because a mommy makeover combines more than one surgical procedure, recovery is more involved than a single procedure alone. Most patients need at least one to two weeks of downtime, with complete recovery taking around 6 weeks. Heavy lifting and exercise should be avoided during this time, so arranging childcare and help around the house in advance is important.

Dr. Power will provide detailed instructions covering compression garments, pain management, and drain care where applicable, along with her direct contact information for any questions during your recovery.

About Etobicoke, Toronto

Etobicoke, now part of the City of Toronto, is a diverse and historic district located on the western edge of Canada’s largest city. The area’s name comes from the Mississauga word “wadoopikaang,” meaning “place where the alders grow,” referring to the alder trees that once lined the Etobicoke Creek. Indigenous peoples, particularly the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, inhabited this region for thousands of years before European settlement began in the late 18th century.

European settlers arrived in the 1790s, and the area was officially established as Etobicoke Township in 1850. Throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries, Etobicoke remained largely agricultural and rural, with small villages developing around key crossroads and along the lakeshore. The construction of the Queen Elizabeth Way in 1939 and the expansion of Toronto following World War II sparked rapid suburbanization. Etobicoke transformed from farmland into a thriving suburban community, attracting families seeking spacious homes and good schools while maintaining easy access to downtown Toronto.

In 1998, Etobicoke was amalgamated with the cities of Toronto, North York, York, Scarborough, and East York to form the current City of Toronto. Today, Etobicoke is known for its beautiful waterfront parks along Lake Ontario, including Humber Bay Park with stunning views of the Toronto skyline, as well as the Humber River valley and its extensive trail system. The area features diverse neighborhoods ranging from established residential communities to modern condominium developments, excellent schools, shopping districts like Sherway Gardens, and a rich multicultural population. With convenient access to downtown Toronto via the Gardiner Expressway, TTC subway, and GO Transit, Etobicoke remains a desirable place to live, work, and raise a family.
