Rhinoplasty (nose surgery) may enhance both the aesthetic appearance of the nose as well as function. Surgery is performed either through a small incision on the columella (open) or through limited incisions inside the nose (closed). The specific approach will be discussed in consultation based on surgical goals and each patient’s unique anatomy. A detailed history will be taken to identify specific concerns regarding nasal appearance. Nasal measurements will also be performed using patient photographs for surgical planning as well as nasal proportions in relation to other facial features. Different techniques may also be applied during surgery to improve one’s nasal airway and breathing.

Rhinoplasty is most commonly performed under general anesthetic as out-patient surgery. A nasal splint will be in place for one week post-operatively. Patients are generally able to return to work within one week.
